Ferozepur Bar Association extends 'No Work' protest against LADC system for two more days
Ferozepur, July 12, 2026: The District Bar Association (DBA), Ferozepur, has decided to continue its agitation against the implementation of the Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC) System by observing a "No Work Day" on July 13 and 14, in accordance with the directions of the Joint Action Committee (JAC), Punjab.
In a notice issued to its members, the Bar Association stated that all advocates would abstain from court work during the two-day period in support of the statewide movement launched by the JAC, Punjab. The association urged its members to extend full cooperation and strictly adhere to the protest call in order to safeguard the interests, dignity and independence of the legal profession.
The decision comes as part of the ongoing state-wide opposition by bar associations to the LADC System, which lawyers contend could adversely affect the independence of the legal profession and the existing legal aid framework. Advocates across Punjab have been staging coordinated protests and suspending court work over the issue in recent weeks.
Earlier, representatives of bar associations from across the state had held a meeting under the banner of the Joint Action Committee, Punjab, where they unanimously resolved to intensify their agitation until their concerns regarding the LADC System are addressed. Since then, district bar associations, including Ferozepur, have been observing periodic "No Work" days as a mark of protest.
In its appeal, the District Bar Association said the agitation was being carried out in the larger interest of the legal fraternity and called upon all members to remain united in support of the movement. The association reiterated that the protest would continue in line with the future decisions of the Joint Action Committee, Punjab.
