Chandigarh, July 15: In a important administrative appointment, the Punjab Government has appointed senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sukhjeet Singh Dhilwan as the Vice Chairman of the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA). The appointment is being viewed as recognition of his extensive organisational experience, administrative capabilities and contribution to public service in Punjab.
A prominent political figure from Faridkot district, Sukhjeet Singh Dhilwan has played a key role in strengthening the Aam Aadmi Party's organisational structure in the Malwa region. Before his latest appointment, he served as the Chairman of the District Planning Board, Faridkot, where he earned appreciation for implementing development-oriented initiatives and taking several pro-people decisions aimed at improving public infrastructure and governance.
Dhilwan has also served as the District President of the Aam Aadmi Party's Faridkot unit, during which he actively expanded the party's grassroots presence and worked closely with local leaders and workers. His organisational skills and close engagement with people helped strengthen the party's outreach across the district.
Apart from his political responsibilities, Sukhjeet Singh Dhilwan played an important role in the Punjab Government's anti-drug campaign "Yudh Nashian Virudh". As the Coordinator of the Malwa Central Zone, he coordinated awareness drives, public participation programmes and community-based initiatives to mobilise support against drug abuse. His involvement in the campaign was widely acknowledged for encouraging youth participation and promoting a drug-free society.
During his tenure as Chairman of the District Planning Board, Faridkot, Dhilwan was instrumental in reviewing development projects, improving coordination between government departments and ensuring timely implementation of welfare schemes. Several development works related to infrastructure, public amenities and district planning received momentum under his leadership.
His appointment as Vice Chairman of PEDA is expected to bring valuable administrative experience to the agency, which plays a crucial role in promoting renewable energy, energy conservation and sustainable development across Punjab.
Observers believe that his grassroots connect and governance experience will contribute to strengthening the state's clean energy initiatives and accelerating projects related to solar energy, biomass, energy efficiency and green infrastructure.
