RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Tells Gen Z: Questioning the System Is Not Anti-National

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday said that young people raising their voices over genuine grievances should not be branded as "anti-national," asserting that protest and dialogue are integral to a healthy democracy.
Addressing more than 2,000 Gen Z and Gen Alpha students at the IIMUN Annual Championship Conference in Mumbai, Bhagwat said today's youth are more inquisitive and seek logical, respectful answers rather than unquestioning obedience.
"The era of blind obedience is over. Young people ask questions, and their concerns deserve to be heard and addressed through dialogue," he said, adding that democratic societies grow stronger through discussion and consensus-building.
Referring to student concerns over issues such as the education system, Bhagwat said peaceful protests over genuine grievances are a legitimate democratic tool and should not be viewed as anti-national activities.
Speaking about the growing influence of social media, the RSS chief advised students to practise self-imposed digital discipline and verify information through authentic sources rather than relying on unverified online content. He also cautioned against the misuse of artificial intelligence, particularly the spread of AI-generated deepfakes and misinformation.
On education, Bhagwat advocated increasing public investment in the sector and said education should not be treated as a commercial enterprise. He called for allocating a larger share of the country's GDP to education, stressing that quality education is essential for nation-building and the development of future generations.
His interaction with students focused on democracy, responsible citizenship, critical thinking, ethical use of technology and the role of youth in shaping India's future.
