Amritsar, October 13, 2026: Amritsar Rural Police have dismantled an alleged Pakistan ISI-backed illegal arms and explosives supply network, arrested three accused and recovered a pistol and a hand grenade, Punjab Police said.
In a post on X, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) said the police had also solved the May 2026 improvised explosive device (IED) blast near Army Cantonment Khasa, arresting two accused allegedly involved in the incident.
Preliminary investigations have indicated alleged links between the module and foreign-based smugglers and ISI operatives, according to the police. Further investigation is underway to uncover the entire network and establish its backward and forward linkages.
An FIR has been registered at Gharinda police station in Amritsar under relevant sections of the Arms Act and the Explosive Substances Act in connection with the arms and explosives network. The Khasa Cantonment blast case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Explosive Substances Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Punjab Police said they remained committed to acting against illegal arms trafficking, terror-linked networks and organised criminal activities.
