In his message, Gupta said that women farmers play a crucial role in strengthening Indian agriculture and ensuring food security for the country. Recognising their hard work and dedication, the Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, began observing October 15 as National Women Farmers’ Day in 2017, reflecting its commitment to recognising and empowering women in agriculture.
He noted that women across Punjab work tirelessly in the fields, making a significant contribution to the livelihoods of their families and the nation’s food security. Their participation in modern agricultural technologies, crop diversification and entrepreneurship is also steadily increasing.
