Rupnagar (Punjab) , October 18, 2026: Sri Anandpur Sahib MP Malvinder Singh Kang has convened a review meeting with drug inspectors from four districts to assess enforcement against the unauthorised sale of habit-forming medicines through chemist shops.
The meeting will be held at 11 am on Monday, October 19, at Kang’s office in Rupnagar. Drug inspectors from Rupnagar, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, SAS Nagar (Mohali) and Hoshiarpur districts have been called to review action against the illegal sale and misuse of such medicines.
In a post on X, Kang said the meeting would examine inspections, seizures, action against licences and prosecutions. Officials will also identify repeat offenders and draw up a time-bound strategy to prevent the unauthorised sale of habit-forming medicines.
Kang said sustained vigilance, effective enforcement and accountability at every level were essential to tackling the drug menace, particularly the misuse of pharmaceutical drugs.
He said the objective was to strengthen enforcement across the Sri Anandpur Sahib parliamentary constituency and protect young people from drug abuse.
The MP reiterated that action against the unauthorised sale of habit-forming medicines would be reviewed to ensure more effective implementation of measures across the constituency.
