Slain Punjab gangsters social media handler arrested from Delhi
Chandigarh, April 10, 2018: The Organised Crime Control Unit (OCCU), of the Punjab Police on Sunday arrested the alleged social media handler of slain gangster Vicky Goundar.
The handler identified as Sumit Kumar Kusawa had landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi from Cyprus when the OCCU officials nabbed him. He hails from Ludhiana.
A senior official told babushahi.com that Kusawa had been issuing threats to the police on social media for the last about two years. The police was on his trail and had a Red Corner notice issued against him.
He had settled in Cyprus for about a year and landed in the police net before his engagement to a Chandigarh-based woman journalist, added the official.
After killing of gangster Goundar and his associate Prema Lahoriya in an encounter in January this year, Kusawa had allegedly threatened the police officials in Facebook post to avenge the killings.
He used social media to issue threats to moneyed persons and his gangster friends would then extort money from them. He is alleged to have been maintaining contacts with gangsters even from places outside Punjab.
The police produced him before the court at Rajpura on Monday where he was brought after arrest. He has been booked under various sections of the IPC, Arms Act and NDPS Act.
