Health Deptt conducts awareness camp for BSF jawans at Indo-Pak Border

Ferozepur, February 7, 2025: The Health Department organized an awareness camp at the Indo-Pak border in Hussainiwala for officers and personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF), under the tutelage of Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajwinder Kaur,
The session focused on educating them about communicable and non-communicable diseases, their causes, symptoms, prevention, and the treatment facilities available at government institutions. The health team also emphasized the importance of environmental cleanliness and mental well-being.
District Mass Media Officer (DMMO) Sanjeev Sharma highlighted the risks associated with severe diseases like Hepatitis, HIV, and AIDS. He informed the personnel that free treatment for these diseases is available at all government hospitals. Demonstrating proper hand-washing techniques, he cautioned that consuming food without washing hands could lead to dangerous viral and bacterial infections, posing serious health risks.
Deputy MMO Ankush Bhandari spoke about non-communicable diseases such as cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, and strokes. He stressed the importance of a balanced diet, recommending the daily intake of carbohydrates, proteins, water, fats, vitamins, and minerals through fresh vegetables, salads, milk, seasonal fruits, and pulses. He warned against consuming excessive fried, spicy, and fast foods, which contribute to lifestyle-related illnesses.
Assistant Commander Mahesh Verma of the BSF expressed gratitude to the Health Department for organizing the camp, noting that it provided valuable health insights for the personnel. The event was attended by several BSF officers and health officials, including Amarjeet Singh from the Health Department.
