Chandigarh, February 26, 2026: Reaffirming the Punjab Government’s push for industrial expansion, Cabinet Minister for Industries & Commerce, Investment Promotion, Power and Local Government Sanjeev Arora on Thursday inaugurated Cargill Private Limited’s state-of-the-art dairy feed manufacturing plant at Wazirabad Industrial Park in Mandi Gobindgarh.
The facility, established with an investment of ₹300 crore, is the largest dairy feed plant in South Asia.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state is witnessing increased industrial investments through the Invest Punjab initiative.
He stated that the growing investor confidence reflects Punjab’s emergence as a preferred destination, particularly in agriculture and food processing sectors.
Spread over 15 acres, the Cargill plant has an annual production capacity of 4.5 lakh metric tonnes. After its Bathinda unit, this marks Cargill’s second major investment in Punjab, strengthening the state’s agro-industrial value chain.
The company management acknowledged the facilitation extended by the state government in setting up the project.
Highlighting the benefits to farmers, Sanjeev Arora said the plant will ensure the availability of high-quality cattle feed locally, improving milk yield, animal health and farmers’ income. He expressed confidence that Punjab, already known as the food bowl of India, will soon emerge as a leading milk supplier to other states.
The Minister also informed that the Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit 2026, scheduled from March 13 to 15 in Mohali, is expected to attract significant participation from national and international investors, further positioning Punjab among India’s top industrial states.
Local MLA Lakhbir Singh Rai said the plant is expected to generate employment opportunities for nearly 1,000 youth in the region. Senior district officials and Cargill executives, including global and India leadership representatives, were present on the occasion.
