CEC-CGC Landran, Mohali granted Autonomous status by UGC

Mohali (Punjab), April 23, 2025: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has conferred ‘Autonomous Status’ on Chandigarh Engineering College-CGC Landran, Mohali for ten years. It is also to be noted that CEC-CGC Landran is an NAAC A+ accredited college with a CGPA of 3.42 on a 4-point scale.
CEC-CGC Landran, Mohali has the Autonomy in higher education which is a functional status given to colleges by the University Grants Commission (UGC) giving greater flexibility towards academic development in context to improvement of academic standards and excellence.
The landscape of higher education in India is rapidly evolving, marked by the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which aims to promote a flexible, multidisciplinary, and skill-based educational system which has been the vision of Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi Ji.
The key components of this policy comprise to push for greater autonomy for Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) which play a pivotal role in promoting quality education, innovation, and academic freedom. CEC will have the flexibility to formulate its academic programs and introduce multidisciplinary programs that align with industry needs and student interests.
The institution will now be better equipped to respond to regional needs and industry requirements, culminating in a more adaptable and relevant educational framework as well as a research Centre for Ph.D and various funded projects.
Being an autonomous institute will allow students and faculty members at CEC-CGC Landran to enjoy numerous benefits, including enhanced academic quality, increased opportunities for research and innovation, better industry-academic connections, and exposure through collaborations and partnerships.
