Admission of 9,000 children from private to government schools is a big achievement of the Punjab : Sandhawan
Speaker Sandhawa inaugurates development projects for Rs 1.18 crore in three schools of Faridkot
Kotkapura, April 15, 2025: On Tuesday, Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, Kultar Singh Sandhwan, inaugurated various development works in different schools of the Kotkapura constituency under the “Punjab Sikhya Kranti” campaign led by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
In his address on the occasion, Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan thanks to the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Arvind Kejriwal, the standard of government schools in Punjab has risen so much that buses are now being used to bring children to government schools just like private schools. He mentioned that it is a significant achievement of the Punjab government that in recent times, 9,000 children have shifted from private to government schools.
He said that development projects worth ₹1.18 crore in three schools have been dedicated to the public today. According to him, with modern facilities, government schools now offer even better amenities than private schools. He also mentioned that in the past year, 12,316 teachers have been regularized and 10,487 new teachers have been recruited.
Sandhwan shared that today, under the “Punjab Sikhya Kranti,” various development works costing ₹16 lakh were inaugurated at the Government Primary School in Duareyana. These include a restroom for special needs children, repair of girls’ bathrooms and boundary wall, a mid-day meal shed, interactive panels, models, and painting/decoration work.
At the Government Primary and Senior Secondary School in Vandar Jatana, projects worth ₹62 lakh were inaugurated, which included a boundary wall, classrooms, a basketball court, pre-primary rooms, major repairs, and construction of a new boundary wall.
At the Government Primary School in Wara Daraka, development works worth ₹40 lakh were inaugurated, including a school park, repair of the boundary wall, science lab, additional classrooms, floor repairs, computer lab, and repair of boys’ bathrooms.
District Education Officer (Secondary Education) Neelam Rani was also present on the occasion.
