Chandigarh, April 7: In a major humanitarian initiative to mark the 350th martyrdom commemorative year of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has announced a one-time ‘Special Mercy Chance’ for students who were unable to clear their Class 10th or 12th board examinations.
The announcement was made by Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on the occasion of the Prakash Purb of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.
Sharing details, the minister said that students who appeared for PSEB examinations from March 2010 onwards but could not pass will be eligible for this special opportunity. The provision applies to both Class 10 and Class 12 candidates, including those who have cleared at least one subject, offering them a final chance to obtain their board certification.
The online registration process will begin on April 27, 2026, while the special examinations are scheduled to commence from July 15, 2026. Detailed guidelines, subject-wise syllabus, and the application link will be made available on the official PSEB website.
Describing the move as a tribute to the legacy of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, Bains said the initiative aims to provide a second chance to students who could not complete their education despite multiple attempts.
Reaffirming the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government’s commitment to education and social justice, the minister said the effort is to ensure that no student feels it is too late to complete their studies.
Calling it a “golden opportunity to rewrite one’s future,” Bains urged eligible candidates to apply within the deadline and stay updated through the PSEB website or their nearest district education offices.
