Expands Digital Learning Access for Students
Babushahi Bureau
Amritsar (Punjab), April 28, 2026: Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh, has launched a newly designed website for its Directorate of Open and Distance Learning (ODL), aimed at enhancing accessibility, transparency, and digital learning for students.
The new portal — https://odl.gndu.ac.in — has been developed to streamline academic information and student services, offering comprehensive details on ODL courses, admission procedures, eligibility criteria, fee structure, and key notifications.
A major highlight of the platform is the integration of an e-Learning Management System (e-LMS), enabling students to access Self Learning Materials (SLMs), e-books, online study resources, and recorded video lectures. The system allows learners to study anytime and from any location, while also providing updates on academic schedules, notices, and examinations.
Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh stated that the initiative reflects the university’s commitment to expanding flexible and technology-driven education opportunities for learners across regions.
Prof. (Dr.) Harvinder Singh Saini, Dean Academic Affairs, informed that nearly 2,700 learners are currently enrolled in various ODL and online programmes offered by the university.
Dr. Subheet Kumar Jain, Director, Directorate of ODL & Online Studies, highlighted that GNDU is offering 10 ODL degree programmes, including BA, BBA, B.Lib, BCA, B.Com, MBA, MCA, MA (Punjabi), MA (English), and M.Com. In addition, the university provides 32 skill-based and industry-oriented certificate and diploma programmes in emerging and professional areas such as Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Digital Marketing, Certificate in Introduction to Sikh Religion, and Diploma in Punjabi, among others. All programmes are approved under UGC-DEB Category-I status.
He further noted that the fee structure has been kept affordable to ensure wider access to higher education. The admission process is completely online—from registration to issuance of roll numbers—allowing students to apply without visiting the campus.
Dr. Jain also informed that regular Personal Contact Programme (PCP) classes are conducted in offline mode to ensure a blended learning experience. As per UGC guidelines adopted by the university, students are permitted to pursue two programmes simultaneously—one in regular mode and the other in ODL/online mode.
Admissions for the July 2026 session began on April 14, 2026, and the admission portal is currently active. Students have been advised to complete their registrations at the earliest through the official website.
