Adhocism in Punjab power sector continues- PSEBEA

Chandigarh, June 28, 2024:
The adhocism in Punjab’s power sector continues as the state government has failed to fill the posts of Directors in PSPCL and PSTCL, Member Technical PSERC, Director HR PSPCL, CMD PSTCL and Member (Power) BBMB, said AjayPal Singh Atwal General Secretary.
PSEB Engineers’ Association in a letter of June 27, 2024 to the chief minister of Punjab has raised the issue of adhocism in PSPCL, PSTCL, and PSERC despite the fact these issues have been taken several times. The selection process to fill-up the post of Director Generation PSPCL and Director F&C PSTCL was started after your intervention, but the power department has failed to complete the selection process and has again reverted to offering temporary extensions to Directors in PSPCL and PSTCL.
Moreover, the vital post of Chief Electrical Inspector has been lying vacant. Such ad-hoc decisions by the Power Department are hindering decision-making on these important posts and creating uncertainty in the power.
The power department may be directed to prioritize these key positions in PSPCL, PSTCL, PSERC and CEI. Additionally, the Union Government should take up the issue of appointing a Member Power BBMB. The post has been lying vacant for more than one and a half years.
The advertisement for the post of Member in PSERC was issued in May 2022 and the Punjab government has failed here to fill the post till date. The state government failed to complete the selection process in time.
