Chandigarh, June 23, 2024: After Amritsar police lodged an FIR against Instagram influencer Archana Makwana for performing Yoga inside Golden Temple premises, she released a video clarifying the controversy.
"I just came to know that an FIR has been lodged against me by Amritsar police. I feel bad to learn that something I have done with good intentions has been perceived wrongly. On 20th June, I performed sewa at Golden Temple. Since on June 21, it was International Yoga Day, I wanted to do something to spread the message of Yoga in Punjab. The man who clicked my picture of me doing Yoga was also Sardar Ji. Even he didn't say that I was doing something wrong. I had no malice intent," said Archana Makwana in a video posted on Instagram.
"Please don't make it a communal or political issue. It's Ek Om Kar, everything is one. Without God's permission, it would not have been possible for me to perform Yoga in Golden Temple premises. I want to convey to Punjab Police, Amritsar Police, and SGPC Amritsar that if you want to make CCTV footage public, please do so, I have no problem. I had no bad intentions. I did everything in good faith. I'm sorry if I have unintentionally hurt religious sentiments. Now rest is in Waheguru Ji's hands. He knows I didn't have any bad intentions. I'm receiving rape threats and death threats. If the Gujarat government had not given me police protection, what would have happened to me," she added.
