Advocate Tanuj Goyal urges UGC Chairman to reopen application portal for UGC NET June-2024 exam

Chandigarh, July 8, 2024: Advocate Tanuj Goyal, High Court of Punjab & Haryana, Chandigarh has formally requested Prof. Mamidala Jagadeesh Kumar, Chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC) to reopen the application portal for UGC NET June-2024 exam.
The exam, which was earlier scheduled to be held on 18 June 2024, was postponed due to a leakage of the exam paper.
As per the notification of the National Examination Agency (NTA) dated 28 June 2024, the new dates for the UGC NET exam are from 21 August 2024 to 4 September 2024.
In his representation, Advocate Goyal has emphasized the need for fairness and accessibility in the examination process
He advocated for reopening the application portal and publishing a fresh timetable for submissions, which will provide an opportunity for fresh candidates to apply. This approach will ensure a more diverse and inclusive pool of candidates.
"It is necessary to provide opportunity to all deserving candidates or eligible candidates due to rescheduling of the exam," he said.
"It is a matter of equality that every person who fulfills the eligibility criteria should get a chance to compete at a level playing field."
Advocate Goyal emphasized on the importance of equal opportunities for all candidates who missed the initial deadline due to unforeseen circumstances.
He expressed confidence that Prof. Kumar will consider this request positively and understand the important role of equality and fairness in the academic examination process.
