Breaking: DA hiked for Central Govt employees

New Delhi, April 22, 2026:The Union government has approved a revision in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees, announcing a 2% increase effective from January 1, 2026.
According to an office memorandum issued by the Ministry of Finance (India) through the Department of Expenditure, the DA has been increased from 58% to 60% of basic pay.
The decision follows approval of a proposal dated October 6, 2025, which has now been cleared by the President.
The revised rates will benefit lakhs of central government employees and pensioners, providing a marginal boost to monthly earnings amid ongoing inflationary pressures.
