Mansa (Punjab), October 21, 2026: The Punjab government has suspended Mansa DSP Harjinder Singh and Drug Inspector Neeraj Kumar in connection with the much-discussed Jhota murder case, following demands by the victim’s family for an impartial investigation and action against officials allegedly responsible for negligence.
The action came after a three-member committee constituted by the state government met the victim’s family to hear their grievances and demands. The committee visited the family’s residence and held discussions with them regarding the case and the police action.
According to the information available, suspension orders were issued after the committee’s meeting. The Station House Officer (SHO) concerned had also been suspended earlier in connection with the case.
The victim’s family had been demanding a fair investigation and strict action against officials they held responsible for alleged lapses by the local police and drug enforcement authorities.
The latest suspensions mark further administrative action as the government faces demands to ensure accountability and justice in the case.
Further investigation into the matter is underway. The allegations against the officials have not been independently established.
