CGC Landran organizes 20th Annual Sports Meet
Mohali, 14 February 2026: Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran organized its 20th Annual Sports Meet at the campus grounds, bringing together students from its constituent colleges in a disciplined and spirited display of athletic participation. Shweta Chauhan and Kirat were adjudged as Best Athletes of this year’s Sports Meet.The two-day sporting event was honoured by the presence of Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran, Chief Guest Shiv Singh, noted Indian boxing coach and Dronacharya Awardee and Guest of Honour Master Teghbir Singh, the young mountaineer known for scaling Mount Elbrus and becoming the youngest Asian to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in August 2024.The ceremony began with the hoisting of the National Flag and the National Anthem, followed by an inspection of the march past by NCC cadets and participating athletes. The oath-taking and ceremonial lighting of the Mashal marked the formal commencement of the meet, while national and inter-university medal winners were felicitated with certificates and cash prizes. The sports meet featured a range of track and field events including sprints, hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot put, discus throw and javelin throw, with students demonstrating discipline, teamwork and competitive spirit throughout the competitions. Addressing the gathering, President Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal encouraged students to make sports an integral part of their lives alongside academics and urged them to stay physically fit and mentally resilient while remaining vigilant against drug abuse. The concluding day of the meet was graced by Chief Guest Jagjit Singh Jallah, international rowing competitor and Arjuna Awardee and Guest of Honour Puneet Sandhu, Research Assistant at the Heldrich Center. The Annual Sports Meet concluded with the conduct of finals across major track and field events, reinforcing the institution’s continued focus on promoting sports and holistic student development.
