Railways to add third and fourth line on Delhi-Ambala route with Rs. 5983 crore investment: Ashwani Vaishnav

New Delhi, February 14, 2026: In a major initiative Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav has disclosed that Centre government has approved the 124-km Delhi–Ambala third and fourth line project which involves an investment of ₹5,983 crore and will strengthen connectivity between Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and northern India. It includes construction and rehabilitation of major and minor bridges and is now entering the construction phase
The project will add about 24 million tonnes of freight capacity, improve movement of Vande Bharat and passenger trains, save ₹952 crore in logistics costs, generate 132 lakh human-days of employment, and reduce carbon emissions by 43 crore kilograms
