Centre appoints new Chief Justices to five High Courts

New Delhi, July 14, 2025: In a significant reshuffle in the Indian judiciary, President Droupadi Murmu has appointed new Chief Justices to five High Courts across the country, based on the recommendations of the Supreme Court Collegium.
According to the official notification:
- Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Acting Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
- Justice Vibhu Bakhru, currently serving as a Judge of the Delhi High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.
- Justice Ashutosh Kumar, Acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.
- Justice Vipul Manubhai Pancholi, Judge of the Patna High Court, has been elevated as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.
- Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.
These appointments will take effect from the dates the respective judges assume charge of their new offices.
