Ferozepur, June 22, 2025: To mark World Music Day, DCM International School (DCMIS) organized a soulful musical evening at the local Blind Home in Ferozepur. World Music Day, celebrated globally on June 21, originated in France in 1982 when then-French Minister of Culture Jack Lang and composer Maurice Fleuret initiated the festival to honour music and musicians. The 2025 theme, "Healing Through Harmony", emphasizes music's power to soothe emotions, reduce stress, and unite communities globally.
Principal Anuradha Chandel shared that the event began with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a series of classic songs that uplifted the spirits of the visually impaired attendees, who were seen enjoying and swaying to the music.
Deputy General Manager Gagandeep Kaur highlighted the school's ongoing commitment to social responsibility, mentioning that DCMIS regularly visits the Blind Home to share joy and strengthen bonds with its residents. She emphasized that these individuals are an integral part of society and deserve care and companionship.
The event also witnessed participation from management member - Assistant Secretary of the Blind Home. Teachers Abhimanyu and Gagandeep Kaur performed touching songs that resonated with the audience. In return, the residents’ musical performances received thunderous applause. The school administration distributed fruits and refreshments to all attendees. Activity Coordinator Kavita Sharma and other staff members were also present at the occasion.
