Ambala, August 14, 2026. Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shri Ajay Singhal today visited the Military Hospital and Civil Hospital to meet the police personnel injured while clearing a highway blockade in Ambala Cantt. The DGP enquired from the doctors about the health and treatment of the injured police personnel and met them personally to boost their morale.
DGP Ajay Singhal wished the injured police personnel a speedy and complete recovery and said that Haryana Police stands firmly with its personnel. He appreciated the courage, dedication and commitment displayed by the police personnel who sustained injuries while performing their duty.
Police personnel attacked while clearing highway blockade
During the operation to clear the highway blockade in Ambala Cantt, the police team was attacked, in which, as per preliminary information, around 6-7 police personnel were injured. While ensuring law and order and facilitating the movement of the general public, the police acted with restraint and responsibility to bring the situation under control and restore traffic on the highway.
The injured police personnel include DSP Virender Sharma, who sustained a serious injury to his thumb; Constables Rakshit and Naveen Kumar; Head Constable Sandeep Kumar; Assistant Sub-Inspector Satish; and ASI Pankaj, who sustained injuries to his fingers. Several other police personnel are also reported to have sustained injuries.
Maintaining law and order remains the police’s top priority
DGP Ajay Singhal said that maintaining law and order is the foremost responsibility of the police. Police personnel are discharging their duties with utmost dedication and courage. He appealed to the general public to express their grievances peacefully, refrain from taking the law into their own hands and avoid obstructing public roads.
Inspector General of Police Pankaj Nain, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta and SDM Kanika Goyal were also present on the occasion.
