286 PROs, 283 APROs and 566 POs imparted training
First rehearsal for Assembly-2022 polls takes place for PROs, APROs and POs in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, January 23, 2022: As per the directions of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the first rehearsal for the coming Assembly Constituency 077 elections to be conducted on February 20 in the Stae, was held on Sunday at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University under the tutelage of DEO-cum-DC Girish Dayalan. Returning Officer-cum-ADC, Amit Mahajan was also present on this occasion.
The Assembly elections in Ferozepur will be held on 902 polling stations – 231 in 75-Zira, 212 in 76-Ferozepur(Urban), 241 in 77-Ferozepur(Rural) and 218 in 78-Guruharsahai and the total electors in the district are 7,14,685 – 3,75,845 male, 3,38,825 female, 15 transgenders with total voters in Zira 1,85,711, Ferozepur Urban 1,68,863, Ferozepur Rural 193,321 and Guruharsahai 1,66,790.
Today’s rehearsal was held to check if there is any doubt about the duty of any member or any serious exemption case or for any other reason for which a person is incapable of performing election duty.
Amit Mahajan, RO said, as many as 286 Presiding Officers, 283 APROs and 566 Polling Offices were trained in this training and practice to operate VVPAT units by the officials deputed on election duty was also held.
He said, it has come to our notice that election workers are reluctant to perform their duties in the electoral process without any reason while we should be happy that we have a vital role to play in becoming part of the world's largest democracy. No officer or employee would be exempted from duty without any valid reason for smooth conduct of Assembly elections, adding rather the election duty should not be taken as a burden or a compulsion but taken as a part of their democratic duty. Besides, the officials were also given the Covid related instructions during the election besides Covid booster dose.
