Chandigarh, December 8, 2019: Putting all speculation to rest Rajya Sabha MP and senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa says that he has no plans to join SAD (Taksali) and is not leaving SAD any time soon.
Speaking to Babushahi, Dhinda said he met SAD (Taksali) leaders Ranjit Singh Brahmpura and Sewa Singh Sekhvan on Saturday but it was only to discuss about the function to be held in Amritsar on December 14 to mark 99th foundation day of SAD.
“All leaders including Ravi Inder Singh got together to discuss how we can collectively celebrate the foundation day of SAD. It is not a function of one party. Other leaders like the Bains brothers will also be coming. Around 400 people will be there,” said Dhindsa while talking to Babushahi.
When asked about news reports saying that he might jump the ship, Dhinda said, “Press has this habit of needlessly speculating. I don’t have any plan to leave SAD and join the Taksalis.”
He asserted that he is in SAD but added the party needs more democracy within and should go back to the principles on which it was created to become relevant again.
On the situation in Punjab, the veteran leader said, “The economic condition of the state is in dire straits. The government doesn’t have money to pay salaries. Farmers and teachers are protesting. Government organisations like the power board are on verge of collapse. I don’t see a bright future for the state. Only God can save Punjab now.”
