Ludhiana: Dr Gurpreet Kaur bats for MP Sanjeev Arora
Ludhiana, April 8, 2025: Dr Gurpreet Kaur Mann, wife of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, made a heartfelt appeal to women voters to turn out in large numbers in support of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Sanjeev Arora in the upcoming Ludhiana (West) assembly byelection.
Addressing a large gathering of women at the residence of JL Oswal of Oswal Group this evening, Dr Gurpreet Kaur Mann highlighted the achievements of the AAP government since its formation under CM Bhagwant Singh Mann. She emphasized significant improvements in the state’s healthcare and education sectors, along with other welfare initiatives.
She stated that the current government has provided over 50,000 jobs to unemployed youth in Punjab — a record for any state government. "Elections are an opportunity for voters to choose the right representative. Sanjeev Arora is an honest and dedicated leader who has always worked in the public interest," she said.
Encouraging greater participation of women in politics, she added, "It was once believed that women could only manage households or businesses. That perception must change. Women must now step into active politics to help shape a better future." She further said women have emerged as a crucial deciding factor in elections and their political engagement is essential for the betterment of families and communities.
Dr Gurpreet Kaur Mann urged women to come out in large numbers and support Arora, expressing confidence in his ability to work for the welfare of both people and industry if elected. “This is my first public address in support of Arora, but I will continue to speak at such events whenever needed,” she said. Despite the expected summer heat during the polls, she urged women not to let the weather deter them from casting their votes.
She also praised Arora's performance as a Member of Parliament, calling his work over the past three years "commendable."
In his address, Sanjeev Arora thanked the Oswal family for organizing the event. He spoke at length about key development projects he has pursued, including the Halwara Airport, upgradation of ESI and Civil Hospitals, construction of an elevated road, a cycle track, and 700 new parking slots. He noted that many of these initiatives are either completed or currently in progress. Arora also addressed questions from the audience during the event.
