NOPS leaders booked; sparks nation protest, demands restoration of old pension scheme
Ferozepur, December 2, 2025: Government employees across India staged strong protests after the Delhi Government, allegedly under Central Government pressure, registered an FIR against three national leaders of the National Old Pension Scheme (NOPS) following their recent rally at Jantar Mantar, demanding restoration of the Old Pension Scheme.
Protesters burned copies of the FIR at district headquarters nationwide, including in Ferozepur, where a massive gathering was held outside the DC Office. Led by CPF Employees Union district president Jagseer Singh Bhangar and General Secretary Sonu Kashyap, employees condemned the FIR lodged against Punjab State President Sukhjeet Singh.
Leaders from various departments—including Sandeep Deol, Om Parkash Rana, Gurtej Singh, Pippal Singh Sidhu, and others—criticised the Delhi and Central Governments, demanding the immediate cancellation of the FIR and the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme.
Employee unions warned that the struggle would continue until OPS was reinstated and cautioned the government against attempts to suppress the movement.
