Outcry over Ferozepur drone attack; demand for aid and job for survivor
Ferozepur, July 14, 2025: The tragic drone attack at village Khai Pheme Ki on the Ferozepur-Fazilka road in May, has left the entire Punjab in shock. In this deadly incident, Lakhwinder Singh and his wife, Sukhwinder Kaur, lost their lives, while their only son, Jaswant Singh alias Monu, survived with serious injuries.
The incident has sparked a wave of anger and concern across political and social circles, with locals and leaders questioning the government’s security arrangements in the border belt. They have demanded immediate compensation and assistance for the affected family.
Senior BJP leader Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, along with his party colleagues visited Jaswant Singh’s home to express solidarity.
Rana Sodhi condemned the incident, calling it heart-wrenching, and appealed to the government to provide immediate financial compensation and a government job to Jaswant Singh. He pointed out that while ADC-level officials and MLA Ranbir Singh Bhullar had visited the family, no concrete announcement of aid or employment had been made. He questioned CM Bhagwant Singh Mann’s silence on the matter.
Rana Sodhi also assured that the issue would be raised with the central government to ensure maximum assistance for the family.
Sodhi pledged full support to Jaswant Singh’s family and vowed to continue raising the matter at both government and social platforms. He also urged people from all walks of life to stand in solidarity with the victim’s family and press the government for justice and relief.
