New Delhi, July 2, 2024: The faction currently trying to destabilize the Shiromani Akali Dal recently attempted to forge a re-alliance with the BJP, Delhi Akali chief Paramjit Singh Sarna revealed Tuesday.
“A senior member of this faction suddenly became a vocal supporter of an alliance with the BJP after initially agreeing to a coalition with the Left and the BSP for the Lok Sabha elections,” Sarna disclosed.
Sarna recalled a February meeting with Left leader Sitaram Yechury where a consensus emerged to ally with the Left and the BSP. However, the senior member, now part of the anti-Akali faction, changed his stance overnight, advocating for a BJP re-alliance, which the party leadership rejected, the Panthak leader said.
With this faction now trying to sabotage the Shiromani Akali Dal, Sarna suggested their motives and affiliations have become clear.
