Punjab Raj Bhavan reverberates with celebrations of Assam Foundation Day

In an exuberant display of enthusiasm, Punjab Raj Bhawan commemorated statehood foundation day of Assam with consecutive fervor. The grand celebration on December 1 marked Nagaland Foundation Day at Kalagram followed by commemoration of Assam Foundation Day on December 2 at Banquet Hall of Punjab Raj Bhawan.
The event witnessed vibrant festivities and an atmosphere teeming with jubilation.
The function was jointly organized by Punjab Raj Bhavan and Chandigarh Administration.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Banwari Lal Purohit, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Union Territory, Chandigarh said that the celebration of Foundation Day of various States and Union Territories in all the Raj Bhavans across the country has strengthened the cause of integrity and national unity.
He said that it is the vision of Prime Minister of India that cultural diversity should be celebrated through mutual contact and reciprocity among the people of different states and union territories so that the spirit of “Vividhta mein Ekta” is echoed across the country.
Recalling his tenure as the Governor of Assam, Shri Banwari Lal Purohit said that Assam is a center of natural beauty and attraction. The state produces the premium quality tea which is much liked in the country and abroad.
The Governor described India's geographical, social and cultural diversity as beautiful rainbow and added that the pluralism is the most important characteristic and strength of India and said that India's progress and prosperity can happen only when each of its states progresses.
During the program, he also urged everyone to unite and work with cohesion towards building a new and strong nation.
The function started with Ganesh Stuti followed by a captivating cultural program wherein through melodious folk music and Bihu the folk dance of Assam, Kathak and North-East Group Dance was presented by the students of Government College, Sector-20D, Sector-11 and Sector-42, which enthralled the audience.
Prominent people present on the occasion included Shri Vijay Singla, MLA Mansa, Additional Solicitor General of India Shri Satyapal Jain, MLA Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor of Punjab Shri K. Shiva Prasad IAS, Advisor to Administrator UT Chandigarh Mr. Nitin Kumar Yadav and other senior IAS and IPS officers from UT Chandigarh.
