Mohali (Punjab), October 30, 2024: The executive committee of the Punjab Senior Vets Association, in a meeting held here today, decided to celebrate black Diwali in protest against the lackadaisical attitude of the Punjab government towards genuine demands of pensioners and employees.
Member Punjab State Veterinary Council Dr. Gurinder Singh Walia and former Chief Executive Officer of Punjab Gau Sewa Commission lamented that four installments of Dearness Allowance/Relief were pending to be announced, besides arrears of 6th Punjab Pay Commission from 1/1/2016 to 30/6/2021including leave encashment arrears were pending due to inept handling of state exchequer.
They said that there was dichotomy in Finance Department as besides the legitimate Finance Minister Mr Harpal Cheema, there was another Cabinet minister rank adviser leading to two power centres in FD.
The government, they added , is set to be doomed due to step-motherly treatment to employees and pensioners who were the backbone of any government and could make or mar prospects of a political party.
Prominent among others present in the meeting were former Deputy Directors Dr Shashi Saini, Dr Paramjit Singh Saini and Dr Naresh Sachdeva, Dr Gajender Chottani, Dr M M Singla and Dr Jagjit Singh.
