Two-day annual fest Parivartan 2024 begins at CGC Landran; View Pics

Chandigarh, October 8, 2024: Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Landran, inaugurated its two-day annual cultural extravaganza, Parivartan 2024, with much fanfare today. ‘Cultures Connecting Communities’ is this year’s theme of the fest. Organized by the Department of Student Welfare (DSW), CGC Landran, Parivartan seeks to bring together students and cultural performers from diverse backgrounds to celebrate unity, culture, tradition and creativity.
In addition to this a total of 169 employees who had completed 10 years, 15 years and 20 years of distinguished service with CGC Landran, were honoured with cash prizes and certificates on day one.
The festivities commenced with a grand Parivartan Procession by CGCians in the college campus, followed by an energetic flash mob that set the tone for day one of the fest.
The invited dignitaries were accorded a warm welcome through a traditional Lamp Lighting ceremony, symbolizing the spirit of cultural enlightenment. Doyens of Punjabi Film industry Malkeet Rauni, Shivendra Mahal and Raj Dhaliwal graced the occasion as guests of honour.
They were accompanied by Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC Landran, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran, Dr. P.N. Hrisheekesha, Campus Director, CGC Landran, Gagandeep Kaur Bhullar, Dean Student Welfare, CGC Landran, Directors and Deans from different departments of the institution.
The day continued with a series of enthralling performances, including classical dance, foot-tapping group dance performances in the Footloose and Rhythm of Punjab categories, along with the heartwarming Sanskriti category showcasing regional attires and art.
Competition categories including Hand Embroidery, Quilling, Canvas Painting, Stine painting, creating dresses using best out of waste, solo singing, and band performances saw enthusiastic participation from students of more than fifteen invited universities and colleges from the region including SD College, CGC Jhanjeri, Chitkara, Amity University, among others.
In his inaugural address, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran, said, “Parivartan is not just an event, it is a celebration of the diversity and legacy of our institution that makes our CGC family strong. Appreciating the entire CGC fraternity including the institution’s students for their tireless efforts, dedication and hard work, he expressed his pride in them and thanked them for reinforcing CGC Landran’s stellar legacy of 24 years.”
Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President of CGC, added, “The essence of this year’s theme, ‘Cultures Connecting Communities,’ is truly reflected in the performances and participation of students. It’s inspiring to see how art and culture can bridge gaps and bring communities together in harmony.”
The first day’s schedule was packed with mesmerizing performances, with highlights including the Ritz Contour Fashion Show, which showcased vibrant traditional and contemporary attire, and concluded with a high-energy DJ Party in the evening.
