Ferozepur police crack armed robbery case within 12 hrs, 2 held
Ferozepur, April 20, 2025: In a swift and commendable action, Ferozepur Police solved an armed robbery case within just 12 hours of its occurrence. Two accused have been arrested for looting a grocery shop in the Main Market area of Ferozepur Cantonment at gunpoint.
The incident took place on April 19, when two masked robbers entered a grocery store and, at gunpoint, looted approximately Rs 15,000 from the cash counter. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the shop. The crime scene is located just a short distance from the local police station, which added urgency and pressure on the police to crack the case swiftly.
Taking the case as a challenge, the Ferozepur Police formed special investigation teams and thoroughly scanned CCTV footage from different locations across the city. Using these digital leads and swift ground-level intelligence, the accused were identified. Within 12 hours of the crime, the police conducted raids and arrested both suspects involved in the robbery.
While two accused arrested have been identified as Surjeet Singh alias Happy involved in threecases, with recovery of toy pistol used in the incident, Shiva alias Jhadia of Ferozepur Cantt, already booked in 2 cases with cash recovery, the arrest of Arshdeep alias Akash of Ratta Khera is yet to be made, who is also facing one criminal case. However, the motorcycle used in the incident has been recovered.
Police officials said that the trio is part of a larger gang of professional thieves targeting homes and vehicles in the region. Further investigation is ongoing to trace other gang members and recover additional stolen property.
