World Tourism Day celebrated at Government College, Gurdaspur

Gurdaspur (Punjab), September 27, 2025: Government College Gurdaspur, in collaboration with the District Heritage Society, celebrated World Tourism Day today under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Dalvinderjeet Singh.
The event was graced by SDM Manjeet Singh Rajla as the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized that tourism not only contributes to the economy but also inspires and guides the younger generation. He added that developing tourism in Gurdaspur could bring significant growth and transformation to the district.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Rishi Raj Sharma, Dean of the Regional Campus, GNDU Gurdaspur, highlighted that World Tourism Day is an opportunity to unite the world through cultural and social connections. He urged students to actively promote their villages, towns, and regions as potential tourism destinations.
Prof. Raj Kumar Sharma, Secretary of the District Heritage Society, shared his 32-year association with the college and stressed the importance of Gurdaspur’s cultural and religious heritage in boosting tourism.
Principal Dr. Ashwani Kumar Bhalla thanked the District Heritage Society and emphasized that tourism reflects the spirit of “Connect, Reconnect, and Innovate.”
He encouraged students to explore religious, medical, and cultural tourism for the holistic development of the district.
The event was attended by Kanwarjeet Singh Ratra, Parminder Singh Saini, Program Officer Damanjeet Singh, Vice Principal Dr. Karandeep Sharma, Prof. Sarbjit Singh, Smt. Seema Mahajan, other faculty members, and a large number of students.
