Fatehgarh Sahib, July.27, 2020: The staff of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Fatehgarh Sahib had a narrow escape today morning, when the bus carrying staff members numbering 25 to 30 from Chandigarh to university all of a sudden got fire and the smoke engulf in the bus creating panic among the staff and they jumped out of the windows to save themselves. The MGNAREGA workers working on the roadside rushed to help them and they brought water from the nearby paddy fields to control the fire and extinguish it. Luckily no one from the staff got any injury while jumping out. Later the staff in a written complaint to the VC alleged that the bus number PB-23K-9306 running on Chandigarh route all of a sudden got fired and the staff in panic jumped out to save their lives. They said there was no fire extinguisher equipment in the bus nor there is any emergency exit door. They have mentioned that the condition of the bus is very pitiable and the floor is broken, which has been brought in the notice of the transport department of the University but to no avail. They demanded enquiry and strict punishment for the culprit.
