Jalandhar, January 29, 2022: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal presented 10 agendas to improve and beautify the cities of Punjab and to burgeon trades and business here.
On Saturday, AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal along with the party's chief ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann made this announcement in a press conference in Jalandhar.
Kejriwal said that currently there are only two types of politics going on in Punjab. One filled with corruption and mafia involvements. And on the other side, there is the Aam Aadmi Party which is presenting the agenda for the development and progress of Punjab in front of the people and making plans for the same.
Addressing the media, Kejriwal presented 10 agendas to beautify the cities of Punjab and said that they don't indulge in corruption and abusive word exchange. But, AAP knows how to work.
"We have shown by working for the people in Delhi. We have provided good education, medical and other facilities to the people of Delhi. To solve the problems of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann and I, met people of all sections, traders, businessmen, farmers, and employees to know their problems and announced different guarantees accordingly. All our guarantees were highly appreciated and supported by the people of Punjab. But the urban people said that you made promises for everyone, gave guarantees, but did not announce any guarantees for the cities. That's why today we have come up with guarantees for cities. We will make the cities of Punjab No. 1 in the country and make all the cities beautiful and clean by making advanced arrangements for the cleanliness," said Kejriwal.
In the first agenda related to the cleanliness of the cities, Kejriwal said that like the cities of developed countries, the cities of Punjab will also have improved sanitation systems and all the cities will be made clean and beautiful.Presenting the second agenda, Kejriwal said that like Delhi, we will implement Door Step Delivery Services in Punjab too. People will get freedom from middlemen-brokers and long queues. All government work, be it electricity connection or getting a ration card, government employees will go to the houses of the people. In the AAP government, the people will not go to the government's door, the government will come to your doors.
In the third agenda, Kejriwal said that all cities of Punjab will get underground cabling system. He said that the hanging wires of electricity and other cables make the city look ugly. In Delhi's densely populated areas, AAP government has started the work of underground cabling. He said that underground cabling makes cities beautiful.
Mohalla clinics are the fourth agenda. Kejriwal said that the way we have given health facilities to the people of Delhi through Mohalla Clinics in Delhi. In Punjab, 16000 Village and Mohalla Clinics will be built for cities and villages and their will repair the government hospitals. Under the AAP government, the people of Punjab will not have to go to expensive private hospitals for treatment. All kinds of health facilities will be provided to them free of cost in government hospitals.
In the fifth agenda, Kejriwal promised to rejuvenate the government schools in the cities.
He said that in Delhi, we have made government schools world-class. While the condition of government schools in different states of the country has worsened, the result of government schools in Delhi this year has been 99.6 percent and more than 2.5 lakh children have opted out of private schools to enroll in government schools. Today, students of government schools in Delhi are scoring good marks in IIT and NEET exams. Last year, more than 350 students from government schools in Delhi got admission in IITs. Kejriwal said that real nation-building means giving good education to the children of our country.
Electricity and water are respectively sixth and seventh agendas. Kejriwal said that AAP government will provide 24 hours free electricity and drinking water to all the people. Roads to the markets, parking arrangements, and toilets are on the eighth agenda.
AAP national convener said that at present the roads of markets are in poor condition. There is no parking facility in the cities and there are not enough public toilets. The AAP government will construct the broken roads of the markets and build parking and toilets in these markets.
The ninth agenda is for the safety of women. Kejriwal said that the safety of people and especially women is their utmost priority. To improve the security arrangements, we have installed a large number of CCTV cameras in Delhi. Today, the number of CCTV cameras installed in Delhi is more than in New York and London. In Punjab when the AAP government is formed, CCTV cameras will be installed in every city to ensure the safety of women.
Presenting the tenth agenda, Kejriwal said that for all this work many people get skeptical that taxes will be increased and many people ask where the money will come from.
For this, Kejriwal gave a guarantee that the AAP government will not impose any new tax and will not increase the existing taxes. He said that the previous governments didn't lack money, it was the absence of good intentions that they didn't get any development works done. He added that with good intentions, everything is possible and they will save money for all these facilities by stopping mafia and corruption.
Appealing to the people of Punjab, Kejriwal said that you gave 19 years to the Badal family and 26 years to the Congress. For traditional parties and power are like business. Corruption and mafia are parts of their politics. So, electing them (Akali-Congress) will not change anything. When they have done nothing for so long, they won't start now either.
"Aam Aadmi Party is new to politics. We have new people, new energy and new plans. Just give us five years and if we did not do a good job then next time I will not come to ask for your votes," said Kejriwal.
