Jalandhar, February 14, 2022: Expressing that he has an old connection with Punjab and that the state has supported him when he a just a BJP worker.
Modi said that he is indebted to Punjab.
Raising the slogan of Nava Punjab Bhajpa De Naal and double-engine government, he said the new Punjab is the demand of the people in the state.
He also took a dig at the Punjab government.
"I wanted to offer prayers at Tripurmalini Devi Shaktipeeth after this event but the administration & police said they will not be able to make the arrangements. This is the situation of govt here. But I will surely offer prayers at Shaktipeeth soon," he said.
Siding with Capt Amarinder Singh, he said that Captain Amarinder as a CM was working in close coordination with the Centre government as a part of the federal structure enshrined in our constitution.
PM Modi also launched an attack on its old ally Shiromani Akali Dal.
He said that SAD while in government in Punjab did injustice to its "small brother" BJP by not giving the position to Deputy CM to Manoranjan Akali.
"BJP always considered Akali Dal as elder brother as we only had in mind the interest of Punjab. At the time Akali Dal didn't have a full majority. They formed a government with our support. My colleague Manoranjan Kalia deserved the post of Deputy CM but Parkash Badal appointed his son as deputy CM. For the interests of Punjab, we compromised our party interests," PM Modi added.
He further targeted Congress government on making the 1984 riots convict Sajjan Kumar a permanent invitee to Delhi Government.
