DC, SSP inspect EVM Strong rooms, counting centres at Ferozepur
Ferozepur, March 5, 2022: With just four days left for declaration of results for Punjab Assembly elections, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Girish Dayalan along with Dr Narendera Bhargawa, Sr. Supdt of Police inspected the strong room and the counting centre premises here on Saturday, for peaceful counting of votes on March 10 and reviewed the security arrangements, at all the four Assembly constituencies of the district.
For facilitating vote counting, he further said that the EVM machines have been stored for Ferozepur Rural and Ferozepur Urban at MLM Sr. Sec. School, of Guruharsahai at SBS State University Ferozepur and for Zira at Govt. Degree College, Mohkam Khan Wala at Zir Road, Ferozepur. All the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial (VVPAT) machines and Control Units used in these polling stations were kept segment-wise in each room and sealed at Ferozepur and Zira.
While inspecting the counting centres, DC said that strict security arrangements have been made following the instructions of the Election Commission of India, where a three-tier security structure with the deployment of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), Armed Police and Punjab Police personnel round-the-clock outside the strong rooms that were being monitored through closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV).
He said that the voting machines have been kept in the strong rooms under tight security. Under the direction of the Election Commission, the police personnel and CAPF personnel are deployed round the clock. A proper log book is maintained for the visit of the officers, to the strong rooms and counting centres.
DC and SSP said adequate arrangements have been for counting on March 10 at all the strong rooms and counting centres.
SDM Ferozepur Om Prakash, SDM Guruharsahai Babandeep Singh, SDM Zira Suba Singh, Tehsildar Election Chand Prakash and other officials were present on the occasion.
