Railway sets zero ticketless travel target in Ferozepur, earns Rs.3.04 cr revenue from 31,833 passengers in May
Ticketless passengers can use QR Code, and UPI through Hand Held Terminal (HHT) available with on-board staff
Ferozepur, June 6, 2024: The ticket checking team of Ferozepur Division is conducting continuous ticket checking in trains to curb the trend of passengers travelling without tickets in trains and earned Rs.3.04 cr revenue from 31,9833 passengers during May. The railway has also extended the facility of QR Code, and UPI through Hand Held Terminal (HHT) available with on-board staff for making payment by ticketless passengers who don’t have cash with them.
During ticket checking in trains during May 2024, a total of 31,833 passengers were found travelling without a ticket or irregularly by the ticket checking staff and Chief Ticket Inspectors of the Division and revenue of about Rs 3.04 crore was recovered from them as a fine. Now, even if the railway passenger does not have cash while travelling on the train, he can make payment by scanning the QR code / UPI through Hand Held Terminal (HHT) available with the on-board ticket checking staff.
In January of the current financial year, the Ferozepur division earned revenue of Rs 1.31 lakh from ticket checking transactions through QR code / UPI scan, which increased to Rs 7.30 lakh in May. On comparing the revenue earned through QR code / UPI scan in January and May, the code Ferozepur division has seen an increase of 557 per cent. In Ferozepur division, from time to time, campaigns are run regarding QR code to make railway passengers aware, as a result of which the number of users is increasing day by day.
To keep the railway stations of the division clean to prevent the general public from littering at the stations and to make them aware of cleanliness, regular checking is done at the main stations of the division. As a result, in May, more than Rs.54,000 was recovered from 301 passengers for littering in the station premises (Anti-Littering Act). Along with this, cleanliness drives are also run from time to time to make passengers aware of cleanliness.
Divisional Railway Manager Sanjay Sahu said that ticket-checking campaigns will continue in Ferozepur Division. The main objective of ticket checking is to improve the sale of railway tickets and no passenger should travel without a ticket, that is, the target of zero ticketless travel has been set in Ferozepur Division.
