Railway earns Rs.3.60 cr revenue from 36,113 ticketless passengers during June
Ferozepur, July 4, 2024: The railway authorities in its Ferozepur division earned Rs.3.60 crore revenue from 36,113 ticketless passengers during the month of June, 2024.
Divisional Railway Manager Sanjay Sahu said, the ticket checking team of Ferozepur Division is conducting continuous ticket checking in trains to curb the trend of passengers travelling unauthorised in trains. During ticket checking in trains during June, 2024, a total of 36,113 passengers were found travelling without ticket or irregularly by the ticket checking staff and Chief Ticket Inspectors of the Division and revenue of about Rs 3.60 crore was recovered from them as fine, which is 8 per cent more than the same period last year.
DRM said, Even if the passenger does not have cash while travelling in the train, he can make payment by scanning QR code / UPI through the Hand Held Terminal (HHT) available with the on-board ticket checking staff. In the month of January of the current financial year, Ferozepur Division received a revenue of Rs 1.31 lakh from ticket checking transactions through QR code / UPI scan, which increased to Rs 8.87 lakh in the month of June. On comparing the revenue earned through QR code / UPI scan in the months of January and June, Ferozepur Division has seen an increase of 677 per cent. In Ferozepur Division, from time to time, campaigns are run regarding QR code to make the railway passengers aware, as a result of which the number of users is increasing day by day.
Regular checking is done at the main stations of the division to keep the railway stations of the division clean and to prevent the general public from spreading dirt at the stations and to make them aware about cleanliness. As a result, in the month of June, more than Rs.70,000 were recovered from 403 passengers for spreading dirt in the station premises (Anti-Littering Act). Along with this, cleanliness campaigns are also run from time to time to make passengers aware about cleanliness.
DRM informed that ticket checking campaigns will continue in Ferozepur division. The main objective of ticket checking is to improve the sale of railway tickets and to ensure that no passenger travels without ticket, i.e. the target of zero ticketless travel has been set in Ferozepur division.
