Land ownership denied to farmers cultivating barren land for 60 yrs, MLA refutes allegations
Ferozepur, August 30, 2024: Farmers cultivating barren land for the past 60 years have been issued eviction notices by the district administration. Through hard work, these farmers have diligently transformed barren land into fertile fields. Now, the AAP MLA, allegedly in collusion with the government, is attempting to occupy their inhabited lands, which the farmers vehemently oppose.
Quoting the latest incident of Jhoke of 8 acres of land whose ancestors have toiled on this land for generations, the Kissan Union Sidhpur leaders led by Gursewak Singh and Chamkaur Singh, in a press conference, warned the administration and the government that they will not tolerate any attempt to take over their land. They are threatening large-scale protests against the government and administration if their land is forcibly taken away.
The farmers said the controversy began when the farmers were served eviction notices by the administration, sparking outrage and protests. The affected farmers claim that they have been paying rent and cultivating the land diligently for decades, and it would be unjust to strip them of their livelihood now. They argue that the government's recent actions contradict previous commitments to regularize their occupancy.
However, the situation remains tense, with farmers looking for a resolution that recognizes their long-standing dedication and ensures their right to continue cultivating the land without the threat of eviction.
On the other hand, AAP MLA Rajneesh Dhahiya denied any knowledge of the matter. He dismissed the allegations against him as false and baseless, claiming that some farmer leaders have been trying to tarnish his image by spreading false rumours for the past several months. He stated that he is committed to serving his constituency and will continue.
