Adulteration in food products will not be tolerated: DHO
Ferozepur, September 14, 2024: The District Health Department’s Food Safety Team has collected five samples of various food products over the past week. District Health Officer Dr. Deepinder Kumar reported that extensive checks were conducted at various locations in the district, during which samples of milk, khoya, sweets, bakery items, and other products were taken. These inspections were carried out early in the morning at different places.
Dr. Deepinder Kumar stated that the Food Safety Team, in collaboration with the local administration, is continuously conducting raids to curb adulteration in food products. He said, the Health Department’s message is clear that adulteration in food products will not be tolerated and violators of food safety laws will not be spared.
DHO advised shopkeepers who produce dairy products to take necessary precautions to ensure the safety and hygiene of food items. He also emphasized the importance of cleanliness. Under the “Food Safety Standards and Regulation Act,” it is mandatory for every shopkeeper, milkman, or related person to sell pure, unadulterated, and nutritious products. Strict legal action will be taken against any shopkeeper who violates this law.
He specifically instructed sweet shop owners to ensure the production of pure and unadulterated sweets. Failure to comply will result in the cancellation of their sales license, along with fines and penalties as per the law.
He also appealed to the public to be vigilant and not compromise on quality and purity when purchasing food items.
