Ferozepur Police intensify crackdown on over Speeding and drunk driving violators
Ferozepur, September 2, 2024: The Ferozepur Police have intensified their crackdown on over-speeding and drunk driving violators in the city, conducting checks on drivers using breathalyzers and speed monitoring devices. Drinking and driving have long been a critical issue in Punjab, contributing significantly to road accidents, fatalities, and injuries. The state's culture of social drinking, combined with the high availability of alcohol, has led to an increase in such cases. The Punjab Police have been working tirelessly to curb this menace through various initiatives, campaigns, and enforcement drives. Despite their efforts, challenges persist, and the battle against drinking and driving remains ongoing.
A police official issued a stern warning, emphasizing the severe consequences for those caught over the legal alcohol limit of 30 mg per 100 ml of blood while driving. Offenders will face a hefty fine of ₹10,000 and have their driving license suspended for six months. The police urge everyone to follow traffic rules and consider taking along a non-drinker when consuming alcohol to protect their own lives and those of others on the road. The official also stated that cases of violators will be moved to court with recommendations for strict action to ensure public safety and deter such dangerous behavior.
Ferozepur Police took strong action against drunk driving by issuing challans to offenders. This step is likely part of a broader effort to enhance road safety and reduce the risks associated with driving under the influence. Such measures are crucial for deterring dangerous behavior and ensuring the safety of all road users, said SSP Saumya Mishra.
