Tarn Taran-based society to be awarded “Bhai Babu Singh Brar Best Pond Award” by PAU

Tarn Taran, September 11, 2024: Dhan Dhan Baba Sant Khalsa Ji Sew Society of village Dubali of district Tarn Taran will be felicitated with “Bhai Babu Singh Brar Best Pond Award” for water conservation and environmental protection by Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) during the Kisan Mela.
The pond, which is spread on 28 kanal 10 marla area and 15-20 ft deep, is being maintained by the President of the Society Sukhwant Singh, a son of Dhana Singh, along with the members of the society.
Beautified with ornamental plants and an attraction for the youths as well as senior citizens of Punjab, birds flocked together to nestle near the surroundings of the pond which has been maintained excellently by the Society.
Contributing to natural resource conservation jointly, the villagers have left no stone unturned in saving every drop of water to meet the urgent needs of the village households and filtering the sewage water for irrigating the crops as well as preserving the canal and underground water.
In addition to Dhan Dhan Baba Sant Khalsa Ji Sew Society, PAU will also bestow award to a farm worker Jasvir Singh from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samrala with an “Appreciation Certificate” for scaling-up the seed distribution among the farming community. His steadfast efforts have enabled the KVK, Samrala to retain the top spot in seed sale among the 35 seed sale centres of PAU in Punjab during the last three years.
These awards will be bestowed on the first day of the Kisan Mela at Ludhiana on September 13, 2024.
