Chandigarh, September 13, 2024: PSEB Engineers’ Association has urged the chief minister of Punjab to resolve the issue regarding genuine demands of employees such as difference in pay vis-a-vis the Punjab government employees , time bound pay scales, payment of DA/arrears.
Ajay pal Singh Atwal General Secretary said that three days mass casual leave by PSPCL/PSTCL employees has been further extended by another 5 days , as such engineers should coordinate with district administration and ensure the protection of both personnel and equipment, safeguarding against potential miscreant activity or damage to infrastructure.
Atwal further said that no untrained official/ officer can operate electrical equipment, to ensure their personal safety and safety of electrical infrastructure. Moreover no female engineer to be posted beyond 50 KM from her place of Posting.
Atwal said that the letter to engineers with a copy to chief minister and PSPCL/PSTCL management mentions that the Association has earlier issued guidelines to engineers for ensuring supply continuity and safety during the ongoing protest by the various employee unions.
The engineers have been performing critical duties at various grid substations, generation, distribution, to prevent power blackouts in the state and to avoid any inconvenience to the public.
The current widespread resentment across nearly every cadre of PSPCL/ PSTCL is a direct result of the mishandling of legitimate issues by the management and the state government.
These include delays in addressing critical shortage of manpower, pay scale arrears, TBPS, DA, Implementation of old pension schemes, and other discrepancies in Pay scales.
These are affecting employee welfare and the result is that most unions and associations have now extended mass casual leave for another 5 days.
