New ICU ward in ESIC Hospital, Ludhiana ready: MP Sanjeev Arora

Ludhiana, September 15, 2024: The construction of a new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ward for Rs 73.03 lakh has been completed at the ESI Corporation (ESIC) Model Hospital in Ludhiana. This was part of the ongoing renovation and upgrading of various facilities of the hospital for Rs 10.58 crore.
The overall work of upgrading the facilities was started recently at the initiative of MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora from Ludhiana.
In a statement here on Sunday, Arora said, "I have been informed by the authorities concerned that the renovation of the ICU ward on the ground floor of the hospital has been completed." He said that he was happy that his efforts were finally successful.
He pointed out that the renovation of the ICU was necessary because it provides hospital care by providing life-saving interventions, stabilizing critically ill patients, and ensuring that they receive the highest level of care during the most critical stages of their illness or recovery. plays an important role in
Arora said that earlier, many critical patients were shifted to private hospitals because of lack of facilities in the ICU at ESIC Model Hospital, Ludhiana.
He hoped that now all critical patients would be treated within the hospital and there would be no need to transfer them to private hospitals. Also, he hoped that the renovated ICU would be able to provide timely and better treatment to patients.
Apart from this, Arora said that he has also been informed by the concerned authorities that the expansion of the medical gas pipeline at a cost of Rs 49.73 lakh has already been completed.
He said that this is also a big achievement as it will further improve the functioning of the hospital. He said that 83 percent work on fire fighting system with wet riser and sprinkler system and automatic fire alarm system has been completed.
He said that CPWD is doing this work at a cost of Rs 4.68 crore and the work is likely to be completed by December 31 this year.
Arora informed that a revised detailed estimate has been submitted for formal approval for providing four 320 TR energy efficient central AC plants (each plant of 80 TR) at a cost of Rs 4.68 crore. In this regard, the tender is under process by CPWD.The hospital was established in 1969. It is spread over 10.3 acres and currently serves more than four lakh insured workers.
In August this year, Arora, the Union Minister of Labor and Employment Dr. Mansukh met Mandaviya and thanked him for sanctioning and disbursing funds to upgrade hospital facilities.
Arora is also trying to increase the bed capacity of this hospital to 500. He already Dr. Mandaviya has requested direct intervention from DG ESIC to prioritize this important initiative and expedite it.
