Haryana Polls: Sons of big leaders in fray from Kaithal district
Surjewala's son is contesting from Kaithal and JP's son is contesting from Kalayat

Kaithal/Chandigarh, September 15, 2024: The sons of several big leaders of Kaithal district are in the fray in the ensuing Haryana Assembly elections. Aditya Surjewala, son of Rajya Sabha MP from Kaithal Randeep Surjewala contesting the Kaithal assembly elections from a Congress ticket.
Similarly, Hisar MP from Kalayat, Jaiprakash JP, is also making his son Vikas Saharan contest from the Congress party. Kamlesh Dhanda, a former minister in the BJP government, was an MLA from Kalayat in 2019. The party has fielded her again from Kalayat. Kamlesh's husband Narsingh Dhanda had also been a minister in Devi Lal's government after becoming an MLA from Pai constituency.
Kamlesh Dhanda, a former minister in the BJP, has also fielded her son in politics from the Kalayat constituency. Both the sons of INLD state president Rampal Majra are touring village after village and asking for votes for their father.
Rampal Majra is contesting from Kalayat constituency from INLD. Rampal Majra, Jaiprakash and Kamlesh Dhanda have been MLAs from Kalayat constituency. Due to which, considering Kalayat constituency as his political karmabhoomi, he wants to retain the hold of his family.
Randeep Surjewala wanted to get ticket for his favourite Dharmveer Kaulekha and Shweta Dhull from Kalayat. MP Kumari Selja also wanted to get Congress ticket for her old worker Sunita Dhull. But due to the strength of MP Jaiprakash JP, Hooda group, he was successful in getting ticket for his son Vikas Saharan from Kalayat.
Angered by this, Sunita Dhull has filed nomination as an independent candidate. Rampal Majra also left INLD and joined BJP. But in 2019, he was upset due to not getting BJP ticket from Kalayat.
After that, he wanted to join Congress along with his old INLD friend Ashok Arora. But Kalayat MP Jaiprakash JP is contesting election from Kalayat by joining his old party INLD as there was no guarantee of ticket due to his closeness to Hooda group. It is being said that the main contest is between Congress, BJP and INLD only.
In fact, Vinod Nirmal has also been fielded as a Panchayat candidate. Vinod Nirmal has previously contested elections from Kuldeep Bishnoi's Party.
Only 3 families have been ruling Kalayat for the last 30-40 years,Jaiprakash, Kamlesh and Rampal Mishra.Kalayat constituency was formed after the split of Pai and Rajound.
