Honesty Prevails:
Railway staff returns two passenger’s lost laptop, bag containing passport, valuables

Ferozepur, October 21, 2024: Displaying exemplary honesty and dedication to duty, a railway ticket-checking staff member ensured the return of a passenger's valuable laptop that had been left behind on a train. On October 20, 2024, Ajay Ashok, a ticket checker on train number 22401 (Delhi Sarai Rohilla–Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan Express), discovered a high-value laptop in the H1 AC coach’s F cabin.
Upon reaching Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan Railway Station, the Chief Ticket Inspector, Jitendra Kumar, contacted the rightful owner, Mr. Navjot, who had disembarked at Jammu Tawi Railway Station in haste, accidentally leaving his laptop behind. Navjot, who was deeply concerned due to the important data stored on the device, was relieved when informed that the laptop had been found.
Upon his arrival at Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan station, the laptop was verified and returned to him in the presence of RPF officials. Grateful for the recovery, Navjot expressed his heartfelt thanks to Indian Railways and praised the staff for their honesty and commitment to their duty.
In another case, demonstrating a strong sense of social responsibility, railway staff ensured the return of a passenger’s lost bag containing valuable items. On the same day, Rahul Pandey, the catering manager on Train 12014 (Amritsar–New Delhi Shatabdi Express), found a bag in coach C-5. The bag contained a passport, a mobile phone, and other valuables. Pandey immediately handed it over to TTE Mrs. Rajni Dogra, who then collaborated with Station Manager Mr. Rakesh Sharma and IRCTC executive Mr. Jitendra Kumar to track down the rightful owner.
By using the PNR details of passengers in C-5, the team successfully contacted Mr. Harbinger Singh, who was traveling with his family from Amritsar to New Delhi. Singh was pleasantly surprised, as he had lost hope of recovering his bag after accidentally leaving it behind while disembarking in a hurry at New Delhi Station.
Upon reaching New Delhi Railway Station, the bag was verified and handed over to Singh in the presence of officials. Expressing his gratitude, Singh thanked Indian Railways and appreciated the honesty and dedication of the railway staff.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Parmdeep Singh Saini announced that the ticket-checking staff would receive a certificate of appreciation for their commendable efforts, encouraging others to follow their example of integrity.
