Lahore High Court Bar celebrates Baba Guru Nanak’s 555th Birth Anniversary with unity and reverence

Lahore/Ferozepur, November 16, 2024: A heartfelt ceremony was organized by the Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation to commemorate the 555th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak at the Democratic Lawn of the Lahore High Court Bar. The event brought together prominent legal and civil society figures to honour the spiritual leader’s legacy of peace, humanity, and interfaith harmony.
Distinguished attendees included Raja Zulqarnain Advocate, former Secretary Supreme Bar; Qadir Bakhsh Chahal, Secretary Lahore High Court Bar; Syed Manzoor Ali Gilani, Istiqlal Party Chief; Khalid Zaman Kakar Advocate; civil society leader Dr. Shahid Naseer; Muhammad Tauqir Chaudhry Advocate; Munawar Hussain Khokhar; and other notable personalities.
Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi Advocate, Chairman of the Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation, highlighted Baba Guru Nanak’s universal appeal, stating, “He was a beacon of monotheism and a messenger of humanity, peace, and brotherhood. His teachings transcend religious boundaries and resonate with people of all faiths.” Qureshi also reflected on Guru Nanak’s Islamic influences, his practices of fasting and prayer, and his pilgrimage to Baitullah.
Raja Zulqarnain Advocate emphasized Guru Nanak’s scholarly journey, noting his exploration of religions and travels to countries including Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, and China. “His respect extends far beyond the Sikh community,” he said.
Qadir Bakhsh Chahal lauded Guru Nanak’s connection to the land, describing him as a "son, glory, and pride" of the region, while Syed Manzoor Ali Gilani Advocate reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to protecting the rights of all religious communities.
The event concluded with a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary, underscoring the enduring respect and unity his teachings inspire across diverse communities.
