DC directs Ludhiana Improvement Trust to identify suitable land in Transport Nagar for CETP

Ludhiana, November 20, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Jatinder Jorwal on Wednesday directed the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) to construct a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CET) at Transport Nagar for the dyeing units operating at various locations. DC has given instructions to identify suitable land for establishment.
During a meeting focused on this project, along with Jatinder Jorwal, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Aditya Duchalwal, and Additional Deputy Commissioner (c) Amarjit Bains, they directed the LIT to assess the appropriate portion of the land.
Send a team to the field. They asked for a detailed report on their findings to speed up the process. Apart from this, he also insisted that all relevant documents regarding land to LIT should be submitted in his office.
The Deputy Commissioner insisted that CETP should be designed based on Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) principles to ensure proper treatment of wastewater.
He also emphasized on the importance of following all the rules laid down by the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), Central Pollution Control Board and other regulatory bodies.
Jatinder Jorwal also informed members of the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana, Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and other departments to monitor the functioning of the Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP). A monitoring committee will be formed.
He said that there are three existing CETP plants in Ludhiana. Two of these are located in the Tajpur Road area and one serves industries in the focal point area.
